Tim Halperin

We were introduced to Tim Halperin by a good friend/customer of the shop Andrew Wong. Tim, a former TCU student, has worked with artists such as Jon McLaughlin, Matt Wertz, Andy Davis, the Ying Yang Twins, and Green River Ordinance. Earlier this month, two of Tim’s songs were placed in MTV’s “The Real World.” He has also shot a music video for his song ‘She Runs’ this summer, which quickly became a YouTube favorite. You can download his latest EP “Make or Break” for free here.

While the rest of the crew is stuck here in lovely Texas, San and good friend/intern of the shop, Henry are in Tokyo, Japan putting in work, looking for good things to bring back home. Be sure to follow them on Twitter for their silly antics that range from the food they eat and what they see in Tokyo!

Saving The Best For Last

Yesterday, we gave you a preview of the Raygun tee. For those who have been patiently waiting, here are the rest of the tees from our summer collection.
Baseball Tee – $30

Baseball Tank – $25

Script Tee – $30

And now for the two styles that everyone have been asking about. The following tees were designed by our very good friend Fur Face Boy. We’ve done a lot of work together both officially and unofficially.
When Iron Man 2 was set to come out earlier this summer, I wanted to make a War Machine shirt. Around the same time, I ended up taking on a big freelance project, so I didn’t have much time to focus on our summer collection.
Fur Face Boy, being the great friend that he is, decided to take that idea on and ended up creating one of the best looking tees ever.
War Tee – $30
Or should I say two of the best looking tees ever.
Iron Tee – $30
Due to high customer demand, we decided to bump up the release date and will have a limited number of tees for sale at the store starting Friday, August 13th. The rest will be available at Kixpo this Sunday.
The entire collection will also be available online starting Tuesday.

Shogun Summer 2010 – Raygun Tee

The Raygun tee is my personal favorite from our upcoming Summer release. It’s design was inspired by a recent trip to the Andy Warhol Exhibit at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

I forget the name of the actual piece in particular, but I believe it was created in response to him being shot.

Around the same time, I came across a small toy gun graphic in a children’s book. It was a very simple design, but I was really attached to the shape and character of it.
So I set about making a design similar in style to the Warhol piece, but in a more playful manner using the toy graphic as my inspiration.

I found and purchased a book on vintage toy guns from the 60’s. There wasn’t anything in the book similar to the graphic shown above, so I ended up patching together parts from 4-5 different guns and adding some details of my own.
Add a few more steps for the silkscreen effect and I arrived at the final version you see printed on the tee. By no means should this be compared to the Warhol piece, but I wanted to be able to pull all the elements together into a cohesive design. And hopefully, this t-shirt will be someone else’s favorite as well.
