Tim Halperin

We were introduced to Tim Halperin by a good friend/customer of the shop Andrew Wong. Tim, a former TCU student, has worked with artists such as Jon McLaughlin, Matt Wertz, Andy Davis, the Ying Yang Twins, and Green River Ordinance. Earlier this month, two of Tim’s songs were placed in MTV’s “The Real World.” He has also shot a music video for his song ‘She Runs’ this summer, which quickly became a YouTube favorite. You can download his latest EP “Make or Break” for free here.

Get Fooly!

This past Sunday, friend of the shop BHamp AKA Mr. Ricky Bobby came through and shot part of his next video at Shogun. Watch for the video to be aired on BET and MTV Jams sometime in June. We handed the camera over to intern extraordinaire Angel to take some behind the scene pictures, here is what he came up with:

FFB x Hope x Shogun

hope4 FFB x Hope x Shogun

We all have read and heard about Fur Face Boy’s latest blog post. I remember reading this story last year and I also felt really bad for the victim and her family. My first thoughts were ” how could someone do this to another human being” I too was angered and felt really upset. When I read FFB’s post this morning I immediately emailed Ha and the rest of the Shogun guys, we all said that it would be good for us to join together and help raise money for this girl and her family. We decided collectively as a group, that 50% of FFB sales at Shogun this month will be donated to the girl and her family to help with the expensive medical expenses that they have inherited. We will also match dollar for dollar the money that we raise for this cause.

So if your in the shop and you see a FFB shirt that you like go ahead and get it…the profit made for the shirt is going to a good cause…I know I will be purchasing a couple shirts myself!

TCU vs Utah

TCU vs. Utah

(4)TCU and (16)Utah are two very good teams in the Mountain West Conference division of NCAA College Football. Their rivalry might not match the magnitude of more known rivalries such as the Red River Rivalry (UT vs. OU), but the vibe is certainly on the same chart. With SHOGUN being right on the TCU campus, we are definitely feeling the hype around the campus in Fort Worth.

Last year, TCU visited Utah in a BCS elimination game only to be sent home disappointed 13-10. This year, TCU has the pleasure of hosting Utah in a vie to remain undefeated in Fort Worth this Saturday, and to make it one step closer to a Bowl game birth. TCU athletes, fans, and students have been waiting week after week for this game to surface to show Utah their vengeance, and the time has finally come!

Following the success TCU has had this season (reaching #4 in the current BCS rankings), the cast and set of ESPN College Gameday will be making its first-ever visit to the TCU campus. Also, Nike has produced specially designed uniforms for TCU to wear when they play their rivalry game against Utah this Saturday. The uniform pants feature a horned frog skin print. The helmet also feature a horned frog skin print along with two red lines that represent the blood that a horned frog squirts from its eyes when they feel they are in danger. In my opinion, I think the uniforms are very cool! To read more about the technology and design of the uniforms, click here.

This game is sold out, so if you’re looking for a chance to go, I wish you the best of luck because it should be a big one!

FUR FACE BOY Series 2

At SHOGUN, we are big time fans and good friends with our homie, FUR FACE BOY. Let me get this started by saying it is a blessing to our society to have somebody as creative as him in our generation. Like what Jay-Z said of Lupe Fiasco, he is definitely a “breath of fresh air.”

FFB2 Flyer Fur Face Boy Series 2 Event

If you have kept up with the FUR FACE BOY, then you probably already know that he is in the midst of releasing his sophomore series of t-shirts, and at SHOGUN, we have the pleasure of being the host of the Series 2 Release Event that we and FUR FACE BOY have put together. Aside from that, FUR FACE BOY has provided us with a sneak peak of what to expect from this series so that by the time you see it in real life, your head might still be square with your shoulders.

What can you expect from Series 2? As you know, FUR FACE BOY is heavily inspired by yesterdays’, todays’ and tomorrows’ definition of pop culture. Just like Series 1, the designs are VERY attentive to detail. The quality is matched by few, and I quote the FUR FACE BOY himself, “with each shirt… I carefully inspect them from top to bottom to ensure that every shirt is absolute perfection.” I have been to the FUR FACE BOY factory myself, and I can assure you, he stays true to his word.

In this series, you can expect inspiration from the late ‘King of Pop’, a ‘True Blue’ colorway of one of his all-time favorite shoes, a dedication to a man’s best friend that inspired FUR FACE BOY from its very beginning, as well as revamped colorways of the Classic Logo and Type Face designs. Why don’t I just stop here and let you take a look for yourself. Follow meeeeeeeeee here.
